FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where are you located?

We are in central Oklahoma, about 30 minutes south of Oklahoma City.

  • What should I expect when I pick my puppy up from the airport?

It is possible he may have made a mess in the crate.  Baby wipes and a towel would be good to bring.  A water bowl and water would also be appreciated by your new pet.  You should not put your puppy down to go potty at the airport.  There are thousands of shoes that have been on the ground where you will be picking up your puppy.  Many puppies are picked up each week in the same area as yours, and have gone potty on the ground.  You do not want to expose your new puppy to this environment.  Also be cautious about gas stations or rest area grounds for the same reason.

  • If I want to purchase a puppy, how much is the deposit?

The amount of the deposit depends on the puppy.  Typically, the deposit is $300 to $500.  The remaining deposit is due by the time the puppy leaves.  If you want to make payments from the time the deposit is made up until the puppy is ready to go, we can make those arrangements on a case by case basis.

  • What is included with my puppy?

Your puppy will have its tail docked, dew claws removed and be current on all vaccinations, worming, and be vet checked before it leaves our home.  Registration application paperwork will also be included.  We send home a baggy containing the dogfood that your puppy has been fed.  We also provide you with the brand of food they are accustomed to.  We also send home something the puppy is familiar with that has the scent of his littermates or mom.  This helps with the transition from our home to yours.

  • Do you take PayPal?

Yes, we take PayPal for the initial deposit.  The remaining balance needs to be paid in cash or direct deposit.  Full balance must be paid in full and cleared into my account before the puppy can leave.

  • What other forms of payment do you accept?

We take Cash App, Venmo, direct deposit, or direct wire transfer for the initial deposit. The remaining balance must be paid in cash or direct deposit. Full balance must be paid and cleared into my account before the puppy can leave.

  • How old must my puppy be before I can pick him up?

Puppies are typically ready to go to their new home at eight weeks.  You can pick him up in person or we can ship.  Airlines require that puppies are eight weeks old to ship.

  • If I decide I don’t want my puppy anymore and I have not picked it up yet, can I get my money back? Also, what if I pick one I like better after I have already put a deposit on another puppy?

All money is non-refundable and non-transferable for any reason.  The reason for the deposit is to hold the puppy exclusively for you.  If I am holding a puppy for you, he cannot be sold to anyone else.  If I was to transfer the deposit to another puppy, I would be losing several potential sales while the puppy was marked sold.  I would have to start all over looking for a new home for the puppy.

  • Do you allow visitors to come to your home to pick out a puppy?

We have to be very careful about who and what comes to our home and our puppies’ home. We and our puppies could be at risk.  Please forgive me for being extra cautious.  It is sometimes difficult to tell if someone is being honest, or out to cause harm.  This is why I only allow home visits for families who have already placed a non-refundable deposit.  Due to vaccination schedules, the puppy you have chosen must be at least 7 weeks old before I can allow anyone, besides me to handle the puppy.  This is best for your puppy!

  • Where do you raise your puppies?

We raise our puppies in our home.  We do not whelp our puppies in a kennel.  This allows us to start socializing our puppies from day one.  We also learn each puppy’s personality where we can better help match the puppy with the family.

  • Do you provide a health guarantee?

Absolutely!  We offer a one year health guarantee for genetic defects such as serios eye defects, deafness or hip dysplasia.  In the event a problem should arise, each situation will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

  • What Registry do you use?

We use ASDR (American Stock Dog Registry).    AKC does not recognize toy or mini Aussies as a breed yet.   All puppies come with registration papers at no additional cost.

  • What do you feed your puppies?

We feed Purina ProPlan Sport.  This food has 30% protein and 20% fat.  Chicken is the first ingredient.  This food helps optimize oxygen metabolism.  It isn’t just for puppies, it’s for all life stages.

  • What is the difference between a Miniature or Toy Australian Shepherd and a Standard Australian Shepherd?

That’s simple, it is only their size.  Quality Miniature or Toy Australian Shepherds should look identical to a Standard Aussie.

  • What colors are Mini Aussies?

Standard colors are Blue/Red Merles and Black/Red Tri’s or Bi’s.

  • When can you tell a puppies’ eye color?

Usually by 6 weeks I can have a pretty good idea.  However, eye colors can change in the first three months.

  • Do they all have blue eyes?

Aussies can have shades of blue, green, brown or even a mixture.  Some can have eyes of different colors, some are marbled or even split.  For example, one might be blue and the other is half blue and half green.  Or another example is where you can have one eye blue and the other brown.
